Securing the Airfield Perimeter with Next-Generation Detection Technology

E.K. Associates partnered with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) to support the modernization and deployment of LAWA’s Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS)—a mission-critical security platform safeguarding the expansive airfield perimeter at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Through advanced network and endpoint security engineering, layered infrastructure design, and seamless integration of multi-vendor technologies, E.K. Associates helped LAWA strengthen situational awareness, accelerate threat detection, and modernize one of the most sensitive security boundaries in airport operations.

We designed and implemented a comprehensive, layered security architecture integrating Cisco networking, VMware ESXi virtualization, SightLogix thermal imaging, Genetec video management systems, and firewall and endpoint security controls to deliver a scalable and resilient perimeter defense.
We engineered and implemented complete physical and logical network designs, ensuring secure segmentation, redundancy, and high availability across airfield zones and the primary data center.
We integrated thermal sensors, video analytics, alerting workflows, network transport layers, and security appliances into a cohesive detection ecosystem supporting rapid response and coordinated visibility for airport security teams.
We executed deployment with strict emphasis on security hardening, validation, and operational continuity, ensuring the PIDS modernization occurred without disruption to active airfield operations.
